Fixed points:
  (a) Arrested near Dunkirk or Calais in late July 1669; delivered to Saint-Mars at Pignerol by Captain de Vauroy on 20 to 24 August 1669; described by Louvois as 'only a valet'
  (b) Allowed in 1675 to serve Nicolas Fouquet as a valet
  (c) Shut up with Fouquet's valet La Rivière after Fouquet's death (23 March 1680) as 'the two prisoners of the lower tower'
  (d) Taken by Saint-Mars to Exilles in October 1681 as one of the two 'merles' of the lower tower, while Mattioli stayed at Pignerol
