the State last year against 4,477 in 1809,
and 5,0CS schools taught against 4,477
in 1809., The highc.-t number of chil

against 109,577 in 1S09, and the average
of 1870 was 120,800 against an average

Lamentation of Jeremiah, which opens

about Queen Victoria, and it is hardly
surprising that the sober and rather
stupid English people should regard her
as insane. She has, it appears, a firm
conviction that Prince Albert is never
