Mary Gordon, aged 75 years, died on the 30th Sept., in the Muter Misericordite Hospital, Dublin, from the effects of in juries received by being drivin over in Townsend street on tin; loth Sept. A ver dict of “Accidental Death" was returned. Carrol, the driver of the car, was exonera ted from all blame. The Dublin Exibition Palace is to be converted into a Museum of Art. Industry, and Science, on the Soutli Kensington mod el. On the Gth nit., ground was broken near the General Post-Office, Dublin, for the construction of a “tramway” (horse rail road) to lloundtown. It is expected the line will be completed in a couple of months, Messrs. Fisher and Parris are the contractors for the company. Wexford. On the 29th Sept., a melancholy acci dent occured at Rossi arc, by which a man named Denis Regan, and Mr. Luke Sweet man, who was for some time c lief officer of coastguards at Kosslare, lost their lives, by the upsetting of a whale boat in which they were going from Kesslare Station, to meet the coastguard cutter, and put a man on board. The body of Mr. Swectman was found, and an inquest held on if, on the 13th nit. Denis Kells, chief boatpian. stated that he, with five other men and the deceased, formed the crew of the whale boat which was capsized on the evening mentioned. Deceased, with himself and another man, three times got on the bot tom of the boat, and they were as often washed off. At last the boat righted and five of them got into her in a state of great exhaustion. All had cork jackets on ex cept Denis Regan, whose body has not boon found. Simon Leary deposed that, assisted by six others, he launched his cot ami brought in alive five of the crew. The jury found a veridet in accordance with the evidence: to which they added—“ The jury wish to record their sense of the very meri torious conduct of Simon Learv, James Uelany, Laurence Hayes, iavid Haves, Richard Murphy, Michael Delany, and M illiam f roly, who, by their prompt and gallant exertions, wore the means of saving the lives of five men on the occasion vf this sad accident.” ITrttmratb. The death is announced of the f'ountess of Hestmeafii, which occurred on the 27th Sept. The deceased lady was Anne, daughter of the late Malachy Daly, Esq., of llaford, county Galway, and was married to the Earl of Westmeath (who only suc ceeded to the title this year) in 1829. .'sin leaves three sons and three daughters. K.llkeiiii}- The stables and kennel at Johnstown, the residence of Bir Edward Kennedy, were burned down on the night of the 2nd utt. It is stated that the tire was acciden tal. An untried prisoner named Browne, with innumerable aliases, acensed of a serious offence, effected his escape from Kilkenny jail on the night of the 28th Sept. A deserter from the Gth Dragoons, named Greene, and going by different aliases, also broke out of his coll by some unexplained way, and managed to clear the boundary. At Kells Petty Sessions, oh the 2d ult., Patrick Flood, who had charged a man with administering a Fenian oath, w as committed for perjury. W ith much regret we have to announce the sudden and unexpected death of .Mr. Patrick Farrell, of st., Navaa. and Stackallon Mills. Mr Farrell, as was his usual custom, had come into Xavan. on the 3rd ult., to attend the weekly corn market, an immediately on entering his residence complained of a pain in his head. Before he could be assisted to a scat he fell to the ground and died almost instautau- Cirosly. Dr. Hamilton was shortly in atten dance, atm gave his opinion that death re sulted from apoplexy. Mr. Farrell, who was about seventy years of age, was an old and respected inhabitant, and for years en gaged in the milling trade. Crk. At a special meeting of the Killadysert Board of Guardians, held on Tuesday, Oct. 3rd, on the motion of Mr. Molony, second ed by Mr Dennis Kennedy, a resolution was unanimously adopted expressing the opinion of the Board that the release of the Fenian prisoners, still in durance, would create confidence in the present ad ministration. A STR VNGE CASE. A Bridegroom Becomes Insane and Buns Away. From the Detroit Free Press, Uct. 25. j Yesterday two farmers from Oakland i county, Alanson (iilbert and George A. Hall, arrived in Detroit in search of the brother of the latter, a young man named Emory Hall. They made a rather singular statement to various parties with whom they came in contact while searching for Hall, but his appearance, when discovered seemed to corroborate everything stated. It seems that young Hall's mother is a willow woman, and that he lives at home and has charge of the farm, the elder brother living in another township. Being a young man of twenty-three, it was, per haps natural that Emory should thin k of marriage, and also natural that he shcul 1 exercise his own judgmen in selecting a girl to become his future wife. His selcc tion, however, did not suit the idea of his mother, and for the past six months she has bantered him almost out of his wits. She had an eye on a farmer’s daughter whom she desired to enll her daughter-in law, but this girl was distasteful to the son, and all that could be said would not induce him to pay her any attention. The elder brother had some knowledge of how affairs were going, and it seems that hi* plain talk created a family fuss, and that he was as good as turned out doors by the mother. Mrs. Hall, being wealthy, was able to wield an influence which she could not otherwise have had. and, by threats to dis inherit her son, made him consent to wed I the girl .-he had chosen for him. He had never visited the young lady, and, up to the night before the marriage was to take I place, had not entered lur father’s house. Last Sunday was the day set for the mar riage, and the young man and his mother dressed up in their best and started for the bride’s house, which was about four miles away. A few fanners and their wives had been invited, a minister was on hand, and there was nothing lacking to make a happy time, except a better feeling on the part of young Hall, who acted more as if he was going to the gallows. IPs strange conduct alter entering the house was so generally observed that there was some talk of nost i poning the ceremony, and while this was going on he took occasion to slip out of the house. Search was soon made for him, hut he was not to be found, although the country around for two or three miles was looked over. Sunday night, young Hall arrived at Pontiac, and got on board of a train for Detroit. lie was seen by someone who know him, and his brother got word and came on after him in company with a friend. No one had seen the young man in the vi cinity of the Detroit and Milwaukee depot, and after a look around town, and a call at the Central Station to s. if he had been arrested, ’he sea'chers went to Windsor, came back without a trace, and then to the Central depot. Making inquiries of officer Button, he remeii b red that he had seen a person of Hall's description, and a search among the saloons brought the young man out, but only to show that he had either been made insane or had lost his senses and become an idiot. He had lost or given away Ins coat and hat, his shirt was stained, lie was without collar or necktie, and his general appearance was that of a thorough vagabond, even to his want of funds, having in some way got rid of S2O or S3O. N\ hen found, he was singing songs and dancing to a crow and of drunken wretches, and it was a long time before he could he ma le to understand who his brother was. even forgetting his own name. He hid no" been drinking, nor could the cowd tempt him to, but his actions were as silly a- th->-e of a child, while his con versation all wert to show that his brain was badly affected, lie was provided with new clothing, furnished with a dinner, of which he ate ravenously, and was to bo taken home last evening. Although only twenty-two years of age, he has be> n chief editor of four news papers At seventeen he was turned loose upon the world and started a journal called La Rue.
