Methodist Missionary Convention was held here yesterday in conncction wiili the anniversary of the General Missionary fcJociety. An essay on Foreign Missions was read by Sir. Love, or Chicago. One speaker stated that during the last seven years only an average ol 12J per cent ol $5,500,000 had been devoted to missionary work among the heathen. The money and energy were wasted in trying to convert different denominations here to the Methodist belief. Denominational missionary work was severely deprecated.
