CmcAoo, Nov. 10.?Under tho influence of the high rates ot insurance; put upon the grain warehouses ol tliis city, the proprietors have determined to purchase each a steam fire engine for its own use, and should there be any necessity for it. Each warehouse is also to have u steam pump connected with the pipes radiating through the buildings, to be used on like occasion. In this way the warehouse men will be enabled to take care ol themselves more effectually than in any other way. Under these circumstances the proprietors will not deem it necessary to insure their warehouses or their contents. In the eases of the Continental ami Qardcn City Insurance Companies ol' Chicago, on which application had been made to the circuit court for tho appointment ol receivers, Judge Williams yesterday decided not to appoint such receivers, for tho reason that there are uo allegations against said companies showing bad faith on the part oi the officers ol' the companies. The companies are, according to the allegations, both largely insolvent, but the mere insolvency of a company, as decided in the case of llaker Ilackus, is not sufficient to authorise the court to appoint a receiver. There must be some bad faith on the part ol the officers, or some act which may have been done hv them, which amounts virtually to forfeiture of charter. liiusmuch iih the issue between (lor.
