Democratic Convention is now being
generally discussed iu the. Press of
both sections.
The Southern Ea lias already plain
ly expressed its opiniou, and that is,
that the South should have a full and
able representation on that important
rxcisiou.
The IUdieals would be iiamenst-ly
rejoiced to think that the South de

tL.'US or that body. They will claim
tho presstigc of "national'.ty," and
v. ith some show of truth, wnile the
i.bseaje of our delegates cannot fail to
damp the ardor and chill the zeal cf
thu Northern Democracy.
We do not beleive the oft repeat
el story that the presence and influx

That defeat was certain and would

the cuud date and what the platform.

too soon. The ashes of war excitemeut

'conquering heroes" had not been dissi
pated. The mass of the people believed
