attendance a lull delegation from the city
of Petersburg, but only five delegates irom
Prince George were present, and none
from Surry. The meeting organized by
electing Colonel William E. Cameron as
chairman, the members of the press acting
as secretaries, and sat with closed doors.

siderable preliminary discus-ion which
need not bo reported, proposed tor the

This morning, the first anniversary of
the death of General Robert E. Lee, me
morial services were held in the chapel of
"Washington and Leo University at fl o'clock.
The services, which wete brief and simple,

The weather being bright and clear, the
Agricultural Fair was a much more decided
success to-day in every respect. The crowd
on the ground, though very large, including

boy-, which, as usud on such occasions,
seemed to afford the greatest amusement to
the crowd.

County Court commenced assessing dam

was served on the commissioners to pro

cal interest in this city beyond the elections
during the present week." The Chicago fire

rather preliminary to, the declaration of
martial law in parts of South Carolina.
