another and superior line of communication between
ihe Ohio and Mississippi valleys and the eastern

mercial capitals of their country. Such is the com
manding importance of this Trunk Line that the
larger cities of the West are projecting feeders to

equaled facilities as soon as it is completed. Large
tracts of valuable coal and iron lands along its route
are paaving into th* hand* of practical miners aud
Iron manufacturer*; a large city i* springing np at
the western terminus, the head of reliable naviga
tion on the Ohio, where it intersects 12g000 mile* of
river transit, and will soon be in connection with
30,000 miles of railroad carriage.

pleted, in 1872, and the Bond* are dealt in at the
Stock Exchange* of the world, we have no doubt

specifically payable in gold coin in New York; the
interest on the former being paid January and July,
and of the latter, May and November, corresponding
with the two Classes of Five-twentiea.
