rapidly approaching completion. It will establish
another and superior line of communication between
the Ohio and Mississippi valleys and the eastern
cities; bringlug ten millions of people, mainly pro
ducers, nearer to the centers of consumption in the
Eastern States, and nearer to the political and com
mercial capitals of their country. Such is the com
manding importance of this Trunk Line that the
larger cities of the West are projecting feeders to
connect with it, so as to avail themselves of its un
equaled facilities as soon as it ie completed. Large
tracts of valuable coal aud iron lands along its route
are paasing into the Inudi of practical miners aud
iron manufacturers; a large city is springiug up at
the western terminus, the head of reliable naviga
tion on the Ohio, whore it intersects 12,000 miles of
river transit, and will soon be in connection with
30MX) miles of railroad carriage.
The Cexiral Pacific Six Per Cext. Bonds are
as safe for investment as Government bonds. Their
