stone lying at the base of the Niagara group; and

no expected whenever that horizon Is reached

The well sunk by Messrs. Vona «t Co., opposite
Peoria, is also noticed in tbe fourth volume of the
report, page IW>. where the section is given as
nearly complete as it could be obtained, and the
*pinion expressed that the water is obtained from
'he Niagara limestone; and this is tho only well
in the State, of which wc have any knowledge,
•hat affords a supply of water from this formation.
;t should be borne in mind, however, that this

Now, sell to the railroad companies the ground
which they have bargained to purchase, and let
them build their grand Central union Depot upon
it. This will centralize business, and make the

lots, and do vote the proceeds either to the pay*
men tot the city debt, or to the current expenses
of the city government. It requires no. elabora
tion of argument, or any figures, to demonstrate

Notice is hereby given that by an interlocutory
decree entered in tne above cause, the undersigned has
been appointed Receiver of all the property, funds, and
effects of the Merchants’ Insurance Company of Chi*
rsons indebted to said Company are requested
on or before December 1, A. D. 1671, at 10 o'clock a. m.
at the office of the Receiver, in the Masonic Building,
No. 2M West Randolph's!., in the city of Chicago, to
render an account of the debts and stuns of money
owing by them to tbe Company, and to pay the same.
All persons having in their possession any property
or effects of said company are required to deliver the
same to the undersigned, at his said office on or before
the day above named.
Alt creditors of said company, and especially holders
of policies who have sustained loss, ana who have not
heretofore furnished proof thereof to said company are
required to present their demands at his sold office, on
