CITT ASP COD2STY POLITICS. The Democratic Central Committee, yesterday, nominated their portion of the joint ticket for city and county officers at the coming election. It is sm&U praise to say that they have performed their duty in the most creditable and unselfish man ner. In presenting the name of Samuel W. Fuller fur Judge of the Circuit Court they have given us a candidate whom all the people would be glad to vote for at any time. No man stands higher, intel lectually or morally. He has held a com manding position at the bar of the city and Slate for many years, and his name gives additional strength and tone to the whole ticket. For City Treasurer Mr. Gage is renominated. It is needless for us to commend him to the public- For City Attorney General Stiles, the present faithful and efficient incumbent, is renominated. The records of the office being destroyed, it would be almost indis pensable that one already familiar with the public business should be chosen, even if there were no other reasons for re-clecliii.c General Stiles, while, in fact, thcro are many. Congressman Stoke*, la conjunction with other members of the Tennessee delegation, and a strong Southern lobby, succeeded In getting a hill through Congress for tho relief of Captain Beatty and his cok puny, 102 men, known aa the Independent Tennessee Rangers. It was claimed that thi* was an irrcgnlar organisation of Ten nosseo volunteers who had rendered invaluable service in behalf of the Union, and this act granted them the ucual government bounties, pay, ami emolument from June, 1861, to April, 1965. the same to be allowed by the Second Auditor of the Trees nry upon the presentation of the proper papers. Alter hU term in Congress expired Stokes was very busy in gelling the accounts of this company, which were settled three weeks since tbe atten tion of certain officials was called to the Irregu larities in the bounty claims f r this company, which were presented for payment at tho second auditors olflee. Detectives were at once put on track, and they succeeded in unearthing cer tain bets with regard to the pretended claims, which showed n systematized attempt to swindle the government.
