There was less doing in produce circles to-day,
tbe recent excitement baring subsided to a great
extent, and prices in grain seem to bo settling
down to a steady basis. Tbe shipping movement
was less active, but lor the simple reason that
what has already been contracted for proves to
be beyond tho capacity ot tbo barbnr at present.
Several vessels have waited for cargoes during
the whole week, without being able to get near
the elevators, and the pressure up.m those build
ings Is greater than can be met. vspeei uly as tbe
proprietors have much trouble in handling tbelr
receipts, many ot which have been partially de
stroyed.
Tbe committee appointed to adjust a seal* o!
prices for settlement reported tu-dny that they
had agreed upon 36s as a price for new corn to
arrive in November or December, for all eases
where the contract was pending at tbe time ol
the fire. They also reported that all m -neys
paid on privileges should be returned, and the
cues thus settled. We respectfully submit to
tbe board that it is in danger of losing caste by
noticing these privileges in any way. lo lunch
ing pilch they will become defiled.
The shipments of grain have been so free dur
ing the week that our stocks must be considera
ble reduced, and uumerous operators are await
ing the next official statement with much inter

and tho shippers were less anxious to take bold
under the circumstances. A total of five grain
charters was reported, which will carry unt
57.000 bn com. and 113,000 bu oats.
Sail rates to Buffalo closed at 123£0 bid and 13e
asked on wheat: 120 asked on curn. and 9}£o
asked on oats. Through rates were nominally
unchanged. ut33c for wheat and 31c for corn to

Provisions were dull and weak, being a
marked exception to the steadiness that per*
vaded the otuor markets. Mess pork was freely

We learn from Captain William Crawford, of
the wrecking tag George H. Wool, tnat the
bark H. C. Winslow, which capslsed near Point
Betsey a few days rinee. had been righted and

Fountain City. It is expected that she will
come to this port for repairs. Her cargo con
sist* of lumber.
