Judge Barnitz Elected Treasurer
of the Town.
At a regular mooting of tbo town
council Thursday night, all tho mom
bors being present, except Messrs. Dun?

Tbo treasurer was authorized to re
fund the sum of $261 to J. W. F. Alle
mong and 8174 to dames Montgomery,
theso amounts having been advanced
by them two years ago for sewerage on
Pennsylvania avenue.
Tho mayor reported SIT as having
been collected for lines since last meet?
ing. Ho also stated that tho negro
boy, Hollis Shaver, who is now in jail
for non-payment of lines, is an incorrigi?
ble young criminal.
Various reports were made by tho va?
rious committees, none of any special
interest, however.
A communication from tho citizens
living on the boulevard, Tennessee and
Delawarestroots, asking that the elec?
tric light noar Simmons' barn bo moved
to the intersection of tho boulevard
with Delaware street, was referred to
the light committee.
It wna ordered that tho water main
near tho residence of C. R. Towson be
extended to that W. W. Motfott.
It was agreed that the dog tax for

After this Thomas R. Hoono arose
and r.xtd a paper resigning his position
as hocrottry and treasurer, to take effect
at once, with his Battlement dated to
tho 1st of tho present year.
Tho mayor and several of the council
expressed their regret and hoped that
Mr. Hoono who had for so many years
filled the position so acceptably, would
roconsider the matter.
Mr. Boono stated that bis mind was
mado up, as his own busings would
sulTer if he continued to attend to tho
books of tho town.
After some further consultation the
resignation was acc -pted, to tako effect
when Mr. Boono's successor has been
appointed and has qualified.
Tho mayor then stated that nomina?
tions were in order, whereupon W. II.
Shuif nominated Judge Ramitz for tho
position, which was seconded by Coun?
cilman Smith.
E. H. Cumpston stated that ho do

election should bo deferred to a special
meeting so that all might bo heard

Boone. Regarding tho nominee he
