On last Sunday morning Mr. La rade,
surveyor of Chesterfield county, was
found lying insensible in the snow ncar
Hallcboro. He had leit Halisboro oh
Saturday night to go to his home near
Clover Hill. On Sunday morning his
horse came home riderless, and it was
then that serch was instituted, which
resulted in finding him, as alLove stated.
Yesterday he was reported to/ be im
proving. Mr. La Prade 1s very well
known in Manchester.
A week of prayer began ai West-End
Methodist church Monday night for for

phy's Hotel,
For two years past Mr. Jerome Bar
rus, who lives at Franklin, Northampton
county, has been suffering from a com
plication of diseases, which brought him
to a condition only less terrible than
death itself. The trouble seemed to be
located in the stomach and bladder; but
the treatment he received not only failed
to give the slightest relief, but actually
proved so disastrous that he very nearly
lost his life in consequence. The pain
that Mr. Barrus suffered cannot be ade
quately expressed in words, It was not
confined to any one part of the body, but
was most severe in the region of the
bladder and in the back and head. Mr.
Barrus states that his suffering never
ceased day or night during his lilness, eX
cept under®he influence of powertul opi
ates, and for the last six months pre
vious to his treatment by Dr. French any
thing like sleep or rest was out of the
question. He was unable to take food, ex
cept of the simplest kind, and the distress
occasioned by even a limited diet was of
ten of almost unbearable severity. The
bladder trouble proved to be a chronic
inflammation of the most obetinate char
acter, and only those who have had ex
perience with this malady can under
stand what that means, It means torture
beyond human endurance. It m.ans ner
vous irritation and prostration that ren
ders death itself preferable to a continua
tion of such an existence. Mr. Barrus
was reduced in flesh to a mere skeleton,
and had become so despondent as to ren
der any treatment almost hopeless. At
the time he came to Dr. French he was
voiding urine every five or ten minutes
during the day, and was compelled to get
up every twenty minutes during the night
for this purpose. Each time the bladder
was emptied it caused an increased spasm
of pain, but a very small quantity was
passed at a time, and was (reely mixed
with pus and blood. The patient was un
able to keep his bed or be about with
any comfort, and it was with the greatest
difficulty and pain that he made the
journey to see Dr. French, and he imme
diately placed himself under Dr. French's
care. After three treatments he was able
to sleep with comfort. He remained un
der treatment three weeks, and returned
to his home yesterday a well man, and
sad when he left: “Dr, French has sim
ply snatched me from death after all
hope had fled.” Mr, Barrus may be re
ferred to by letter or in person. No mat
ter what your disease may be, or how
many physicians have told you there is
no hope for you, go to Murphy's Hotel
and consult Dr. French, for he cures
after all other means fail. Go at once,
and not wait to see a case published like
