Sir Hubert (Vilton.—We are happy to
pirscnt our readers with an authentic copy
of a letter, written by our gallant country
man, Sir Robert Wilson, to the Portuguese
Government, renouncing the title, and re
turning the insignia of the Knight Com
mander of the Tower and Sword. The
letter speoks for itself, and omirtrays the
honorable feelings of a Briton, indignant at
the uni'ist and liberal treatment he had re
ceived from a people \.ho owed to him so
many days of glory, and into whose port he
li id store i to seek shelter in the moment
of danger: it shews him great under mis
fortune, disd lining to w ear a distinction he
had in common with his barbarous and ty
rannical oppressors.
