good constitution, had suffered for five years,
pain, with a sensation of pressure, and prick
ling in the sjalp, arising from u sudden check

Chronic Rheumatism, complicated with Gout.
A man, uged filly-four years, of a good eon
stitution, had been habitually ntlccted, for five
years, with rheumatic pains, shifting from the
head to the breast, and all the joints, and who
bail gout alternately in each loot, received
three applications ol the fumigations, from the
10th to the Kill of April—the first of which
produced copious perspiration, lie was deli]
-yered, as if by magic, from his pains, and the
flexibility of his limbs restored

A matt, forty-three years of age, an inhabi
tant ul one of (he ports of (lie Adriatic, bad
been afflicted for ten years with a very exten
sive tetter, surrounding the neck and shoul
ders. The tetter was dry, and often covered
with red points, with suppurating tumors, to
which the line'll adhered. It wus attend
ed with excessive itching. The general health
was good, except a slight chronic opthulmin,
attributeJ to the sea air. lie recollected hav
ing been informed by his mother tliut she bad
snlrered during her youth from an hei |ietic c
ruptiou He had tried u lew remedies, among
others, a solution of inurintic acid, rubbed up
on the part, without success
After the first fumigation, taken on the 22d
of June, the itching diminished, and, os the
patient was therefore prevented from scratch
ing, the linen no longer adhered to the Imck
After the seventh application, the improve
ment was truly astonishing, the itching hnv
lag almost entirely reused. An eruption, ari
aing from the fumigations, appeared upon the
right arm, so as to intermpt the treatment,
hut fourteen fumigations in ten days comple
ted the cure
This establishment has bat recently gone in
to operation. I have a number of inveterate
rases under ra v management,utl of which huve
improved greatly beyond my expectations.
