Gold mining in Arizona is attracting
more attention th in usual because of the
depression in That territory will
come to the front in the next few years
and will receive a treat ileal of immigration.

although its resources in this respect are
very little developed. An effrt will bj

and if it be successful it will stimulate the

A mob at Roanoke, Virginia, hanged a
negro and afterwards cremated his body,
last Thursday. Tho crime wiih which
the negro was charged was an assault on
a woman. The state militia had been
called out to jirotect the negro. A fight
ensueM between the mob and ginrdu and
nine men were killed and
seriously wounded.
The Lo Angelea Herald is very bitter
in its denunciation of the administration
for the nullification of the Geary law and
the attitude assumed on silver. It is
simply voicing the sentiment of the
people of every proposition.

The Cracker Exploded.
A distressing accident occurred last'
night about I):30 o'clock on Meyer street.
Reinaldo Ramirez, young man twenty-five
year of age, lighted a "latest Improved"
fire-cracker and threw it into,
the middle of the street. It failed to explode
us soon as he thought it should
and he went to investigate the trouble.
As he was reaching to pick up the cracker
it Tient off. Ramiruz was knocked -senseless
and several of tho crowd gathered
about, carried him into a building
near by and medical aid was summoned.
His hands, arms and face are badly
lacerated and it is feared he may Ioo3e
one or both of his eye. No doubts are
entertained as to his recovery, but he

Frank Oury, a nephew of ex-delegate

Southern Arizona, a few nights ago.
