LUCIUS L. Lamkr, Kscp, a wealthy gontlo
iuiin of Baltimore, has raised and uniformed a
company of a huu-lrod aud fifty gallant Mary
laaders at his own expense, brought them to
Virginia, und is now providing for them till
they cau bo received into service, all at his
own cost. Such a spirit is wor'hy of the best
days of old Maryland, and proves that tho
fires of h.r ancient chivalry are not yet extinct
in her veins.

interest,) we shall have Ash, oysters, and all
the delicacies of the season, with the ad van

on active duty, under command of the gallant

"him with being a Northern spy. The party
was put in tho guard-house.

North. Tbey bad the honor of being chosen,
on their arrival in Richmond, as the right
company of the Second Regiment S>-uth Car
olina volunteers. J. B. Kershaw Colonel com
manding—a post of honor and danger in time
of war. The Guards have made themselves
very popular since their arrival in this city.—
Previous to the starting of the Palmetto boys
yesterday, the Butler Guard, who on that
morning, for the first time, appeared in their j
new fatigue dresses, marched down Main street I
for some distance, and, on returning, honored
tho Dispatch office with a present arms, for I
which compliment we return them many and I
sincere thanks. May each man at the corps I
bag a dozen of the invaders. We caald hope j

of the Howitzer Battalion, aud returned the
