Late Thursday night a smooth-faced man about thirty voars old registwed at the Metro politan Hotel in Naw York as "R Smith. Wash ington, D.C." Saturday he was found dead in hia room. When lound his body was drawn together and hia f;?ce indicated that his death had been an agonuing one. The stranger was last seen alive Friday. There was nothing found in his room which in any manner would assist in the identification of the man. From trade marks on his clothing it is believed that they were purchased in Chicago.
